Depart Underberg at 8:00 AM in a 4×4, ascending the iconic Sani Pass for early tea at Sani Top Chalet, followed by a scenic trek up Black Mountain Pass to view Thabana Ntlenyana, Southern Africa’s highest peak at 3,482 meters.
Journey through the stunning Sehonghong Valley to Mokhotlong, once the British Empire’s remotest outpost, for an ethnic Basotho experience at “10 Riverside” and an early lunch. Continue across the Roof of Africa via Moteng Pass to Liphofung, a historic San and Basotho cultural site. Day two takes you past the Liphofung Diamond Mine to Butha Buthe’s Dinosaur Footprints, ending with dinner and an overnight stay at Mokobong Lodge in Ha Lejone.
On day three, visit the majestic Katse Dam, tour its wall, and explore Bokong Nature Reserve’s Interpretive Centre before dining and overnighting at Sani Top Chalet, home to Africa’s highest pub. Wrap up with a sunrise breakfast overlooking KwaZulu-Natal (weather permitting) before descending Sani Pass to Underberg.

Depart from Underberg (or collection en route, if applicable) in a four-wheel drive vehicle at 08h00 and travel via the Sani Pass with a stop at the Sani Top Church for a short visit. We then travel on to Black Mountain Pass
A short walk will take us to a vantage point to view Thabana Ntlenyana – the highest peak in Southern Africa at 3482m.
After a short drive, we arrive in Mokhotlong ( once billed as the remotest outpost in the British Empire) where we have dinner and overnight.Day 2
After breakfast, we depart from Mokhotlong across the roof of Africa and travel down the Moteng Pass to Liphofung a cultural and historical site of the San people.
We stop at Bokong Nature Reserve where beauty and serenity lie within the waterfalls. We have dinner and overnight at Katse Lodge.Day 3
After breakfast, we visit the Interpretive Centre and go on a tour of the Katse Dam wall
We travel via Thaba Tseka, Linakaneng and St James Mission to Sani Mountain Retreat (the highest pub in Africa) where we have dinner and overnight.Day 4
We have a sunrise breakfast on the deck of Sani Mountain Retreat (weather permitting) overlooking Kwa Zulu Natal before we descend the Sani Pass back into Underberg.
